Clinging to kayaks 13

The television became an awkward bystander as you started yelling. Its flickering screen flashing on our faces. I stayed quiet. You wanted to know how I planned on fixing this. You didn’t understand that I was silent because I had no answer. I looked around the room and let your words wash over me. The clock in the corner glowed in bold red. The computer had small blinking white lights everywhere. All of these lights kept glowing even though tomorrow was a mystery. You wanted to pull the plug on us for the same reason. Uncertainty was killing you, yet it didn’t matter at all to the lights. The clock ticked over to eleven after eleven. And as you slammed the door I wished for you.
