Valdez for Carlos Campos

Launched recently at Opening Ceremony, Valdez is a socially responsible accessories brand that works directly with artisans in Ecuador. With a purpose of preserving the Ecuadorian culture of the Panama hat, the brand aims to strengthen the appreciation for hand-made sustainable products. Established in 2011 by 25 year old Gabriela Goldbaum, Valdez sources locally-manufactured textiles with traditional patterns, toquilla straw and felt from the Andes. 

To present the new collection of Valdez hats, Gabriela teamed up with menswear designer and CFDA winner Carlos Campos. Accentuating the deeply-rooted Latin-American influence that both designers share, the new Valdez hats accompanied models down the runway at the Fall 2012 presentation at Milk Studios. Combining neutral shades with a brighter palette of deep reds and electric blues, the felt hats perfectly complimented Campos' earthy tones of Autumn.
