It was always you
I love one man, and you know it; I love him while awake; while sleeping; living; dead; love him. And if I can’t have him then God doesn’t exist, Reverend Sigurður; and you, the archpriest, don’t exist, nor does the bishop, nor my father, nor Jesus Christ; nothing—except for evil. –Halldór Laxness, Iceland’s Bell
The monsters I miss
And every single thing you ever did that bothered me, is every single thing I miss.

Fight for it
"When you truly care for someone, you don't look for faults. You don't look for answers. you don't look for mistakes. Instead, you fight the mistakes. You accept the faults and you overlook excuses. The measure of love is when you love without measure. There are rare chances that you'll meet the person you love and who loves you in return. So once you have it, don't ever let go. The chance might never come your way again."

My pigeon
His voice touches places inside me like someone moving through a house, flicking light switches. ... And even if it was dark and there was shellfire or an arctic gale blowing, I’d still be able to understand him, because our thoughts nestle against each other, like pigeons on a wire. – Geraldine McCaughrean, The White Darkness
A part of me
You’re closer to me than my skin—that’s how much you’re a part of me. – Justina Machado, Six Feet Under
I nod and she smiles
My favorite excerpt from one of Ryan's new posts..
I sit and think
of future promises
that sound too perfect
and she repeats them
to show she’s serious.
I look up and believe her
and say “Let’s.”

The carousel
Nostalgia - it's delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek, "nostalgia" literally means "the pain from an old wound." It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn't a spaceship, it's a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards... it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It's not called the wheel, it's called the carousel. It let's us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved. - Don Draper

I miss that feeling...
tiptoes on top of toes
swaying side to side
as if standing on a rocking ship
letting myself go completely.
leaning with the music
as if nothing in the world
not even an unexpected branch
could scrape me as we pass
to and fro, back and forth
trusting in your arms.
held. unafraid.
unafraid because pain and I haven't met yet. I miss that.

Risk
Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it, it really is worth fighting for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk everything, you risk even more.
